Slow, gentle,
Seemingly passive,
They stand
Close, no contact
But the pressure
The frisson of what?
Starts to build
Gentle gazes
Furtive glances
Assessing
Wondering if they should
Dare to assume …
Tentative, tenuous
Testing, back away!
Scared of what could be
And then by accident
A gentle brush
Hand against hand,
Skin touches skin
Electricity
Finally! Release
The wall so carefully maintained,
The gate so well controlled,
Crumble down, swing open,
Unleashed, two souls
At the mercy
Of a grander, deeper passion
Than ever imagined
An ache so deep,
So gnawing, so intense
Breathtaking,
But it is … a blessed release.
