This is my time and I am surely blessed

Life’s path once
seemed to stretch
too far ahead of me
seemed to be so endless
that all was such a big deal to me .

Now , being more
than halfway along
this mostly rocky road
of mine
having walked the soles through
of many a pair of shoe

I can honestly confess
that to my own detriment
that to my own shame
for most of the way
I did not do my best

that I stopped
too often along the way
to take an undeserved rest .

I wasted precious years
fighting my own battles
I wasted precious years
finding my way –

fighting the wrong battles
for too many a day

while time went flying by .

I wasted precious years
searching for acceptance
searching for attention
searching for that place
where I belong .

Craving recognition
craving love

in all the wrong
places .




Now , being more
than halfway along
after too many a time
getting lost along the way

I finally find myself
on the right track
in the right frame of mind

and with you by my side .
