Mother,
You were there when my heart took its first determined beat.
You were there when I took my first tentative breath.
You’ve been there to teach and guide me, every step of the way …
I love the way you honour my father,
It has taught me respect.
I love the way you sacrificed everything for your mother,
It has taught me to put others before myself.
I love the way you support your sister,
It has taught me that family comes first.
I love the way you love my children,
It has taught me that love is infinite.
I love your comforting and caring embrace,
It has taught me the power of touch.
I love the way you cherish your friends,
It has taught me the joy of caring.
I love the way you provide for so many,
It has taught me that giving is better than receiving.
I love the way you love your garden,
It has taught me the joy of nurturing.
I love the way you adore your pet,
It has taught me the joys of uncomplicated love.
I love the way you cherish music,
It has taught me to feel and become one with rhythm.
I love that you smell like a spring morning,
It has taught me to cherish the smell of the seasons.
I love the way you admire the shapes of clouds,
It has taught me to look up when others look down.
I love the way you write lists,
It has taught me the importance of planning.
I love the way you structure your days,
It has taught me to embrace my spontaneity.
I love the way you respect who I am,
It has taught me not to judge others.
I love the way you make me feel beautiful,
It has taught me to walk with confidence even when I am low.
You are here, still gently pulling me when I am unsure.
You are here, still supporting me when I am afraid.
You are here, to be part of my journey.
You are here, to share in the joys of each day.
You are here.
I am of you.
Mother, I love you.
