In shades of grey
and charcoal ,
setting the tone
in smudged pencil strokes
a landscape of words
lost in time

I lived my own
still picture film
Paris circa 1930.
My escape set in (amongst)
broken cobble stone bridges
street corner cafes
just maybe sometimes,
if I am lucky …

I was different playing the part
my escape
more than just a dream
life but just a stage
starring all the different
sides of me

There were no neon signs
or a Hollywood walk of fame
no Oscars
no glitter
as life was only painted
in a rainbow of greys
for me
